Canada’s 1st Fair Trade Town: Wolfville, Nova Scotia
On Tuesday, April 17, 2007, Wolfville, Nova Scotia will officially become the first Fair Trade Town in Canada. municipalinfonet
Located in the Annapolis Valley, Wolfville is proud to be part of the Fair Trade Certification for sustainable and fair production and trade practices, thus ensuring that producers in the South do benefit as well as supporting local production.
The Fair Trade Town Advisory Committee includes representatives of the Town of Wolfville, Wolfville Business Development Corporation, Acadia University students, faculty, and staff, Wolfville Farmers’ Market, Just Us Coffee Roasters Co-op, and local producers.
The International Fair Trade Towns Campaign involves more than 20 countries and 200 importers and manufacturers in Canada are certified under the Fair Trade Certified logo.
